Amateur radio in Somalia

Six Oscar Zero Foxtrot is my Somali amateur radio callsign.

I visited Galkayo in the Puntland State of Somalia (Horn of Africa) in April and August of 2007.

The city of Galkayo is located in the semi arid central zone of Somalia, roughly equidistant to Mugadishu and the port of Bosaso.

Radio amateurs might want to use Maidenhead grid locator LJ36rs to compute location and distance.

I set up my amateur radio station in town at the compound of Radio Galkayo, an FM radio broadcast station.

I thank the director Hassan Jama and staff for their kind assistance and hospitality.
