Summits on the Air (SOTA)
You will discover new places and come across beautiful scenery
with often a stunning view from the summit.
Other radio amateurs will be keen to make radio contact with you
and short wave listeners (SWL) can participate too, earning points.
My VHF & SOTA 2013 (June) holiday to
Ireland included a stop-over in South England and South Wales. I made
a special effort to activate the 6m-4m-2m bands from SOTA hilltops, though often
too remote to get any QSO. It was nice to get some 4m contacts in the west
of Ireland, especially in Connemara, Co. Galway and north Co.

It will take me a few weeks to complete this
web page section. Unfortunately I am having to run my software tool in a
Windows XP Virtual Machine due to compatibility issues with Windows
7. This is extremely time consuming so this web page update will probably
be my last one.
