Summits on the Air (SOTA)

You will discover new places and come across beautiful scenery with often a stunning view from the summit.

Other radio amateurs will be keen to make radio contact with you and short wave listeners (SWL) can participate too, earning points.

My SOTA 2014 (October) holiday to Ireland included a few days in Co. Mayo and Co. Galway (Connemara) and en route stops in counties Wicklow, Kildare, Cavan and Leitrim.

The first week the weather was rather pleasant with mild temperatures and long sunny spells, there after weather deteriorated quickly with a series of Atlantic depressions bringing in low cloud, rain and high wind, precluding any serious hill walking in the West.
