I activated this hilltop as EI/ON4TA/P.  First activation!

 

 

Using a shrub to support the antenna ...

A couple of wind turbines at the top ...

Easy to reach just off the N59 from Ballyconnell to Bawnboy.  Due south of the hill an access road off the N59 will take you to the top.  Various heavy machinery tracks cross this narrow tarmac road.  There is a hardcore parking area near the wind turbine.

 

On foot continue up the track in a northernly direction.  Slieve Rushen is a vast top you pick your spot to set up the station within the O.Z.

 

Even tough it looked a very good VHF site I did not manage a single contact on the day, I had to fall back to 20m to get the required contacts.

 

The ascent took about 15 minutes.
